John Brooks Henderson, Jr., a diplomatic advisor to China, was a shell collector. Interested in the marine shell life of the West Indies, he participated in several expeditions to the Caribbean. He also traveled to collect marine mollusks along the Southeastern United States. His collections were donated to the United States National Museum. He did volunteer work in the Division of Mollusks in his spare time, and wrote several articles for the Proceedings of the United States National Museum and Bulletin of the United States National Museum.This field book is a logbook for an expedition of the Eolis on commission to collect specimens, starting in April 1912 from Annapolis, MD and traveling southwards. The pages are covered with diary notes on the trip, mostly related to the travel conditions, with a few mentions of specimen collection. Additional notes are inserted at end. the logs go from April 1912 to June 24, 1916
